turkey for me. turkey for you.

Ahh thanksgiving. A time to be thankful. I am so thankful for so many things. We read and hear a lot about the things people are thankful for. We feel compelled to share how thankful we are for the things that go without saying, like our family and health, and I of course am thankful for these things too but am here to list all of the underdogs that I am truly thankful for.
This idea came to me from a memory I can never shake. During Esthetic school, we were asked to write a list of 5 things we were thankful for and not include our name on paper. Then we passed them in and our instructor shuffled and passed them out again, announcing that each person would read the paper they had and the class had to guess who it belonged to. Fuck.
I sat, sweating, anxiously awaiting my scroll to be read. I listened to “my family”, “my freedom”, “my mom”, “my home”, as I shuddered. I hoped someone with a sense of humor had mine. Then, the quietest girl in class began reading,
“The things I am most thankful for are: 1)Fake eyelashes 2) Being born a blonde 3) My hairdresser Kelly 4)Chanel 5) Strawberry Sundaes.”

Without further adieu: The things I am most thankful for, 2015:

I love you all that read this nonsense. I love my friends, near and far, Boston I miss you so much. I miss Heavenly Donuts and legit Dunkins, penuchi fudge, and real Italian food… all the “northern things” I can’t enjoy anymore! So  grateful for my family, my new nieces Violet and Mia, my puppy lovins, my novio, my new job, house and life. Grateful for my strength and resilience and the lessons of acceptance I have grasped. Life is good and it’s a great day to celebrate. Linda, my BFF overseas, represent for all the fatties in America xx
