Everyone is on the pumpkin train for its divine taste, delicious scent, and nostalgia for one of the most loved seasons, but did you know it is amazing for your skin too? The Pumpkin Spice facial is one of the most requested facials I do year round because of the results driven benefits, and this is the time of year that this facial’s fan base grows.
Most pumpkin facials will incorporate a pumpkin enzyme as the exfoliation step for five to ten minutes with or without steam. Pumpkin is a powerful antioxidant treatment and has a myriad of beneficial ingredients including retinol (Vitamin A), ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), beta-carotene, as well as being a natural form of salicylic acid. Because of these components, the pumpkin enzyme exfoliates and revitalizes your skin. It is ideal for stimulating circulation and promoted healing, making it perfect for those concerned with aging, breakouts, or a dull complexion. Most of these enzymes are formulated specially for even the most sensitive skins making it suitable for anyone. The only contraindications are for those with pumpkin or aspirin allergies (aspirin is a salicylate). I also advise that my pregnant clients consult with their doctor before receiving any treatment with salicylic acid.
After the enzyme is removed with a warm towel and patted dry, any impurities will be gently extracted from the skin. When done with correct technique and following steam, extractions should be virtually painless. Performing High Frequency after extractions will speed up the healing process of any blemishes and prevent future breakouts. Ahhh your skin is clean. You will already feel lighter and brighter.
A relaxing Swedish massage using an oil free pumpkin massage crème on the face, neck, and décolleté is the next step. This will stimulate the lymphatic vessels and eliminate toxins from your skin, as well as leaving you to feeling truly relaxed.
Finishing with a purifying pumpkin or hydrating cranberry antioxidant masque is last but not least. Relaxing with this masque on for eight to ten minutes will soothe and soften your freshly refined skin. I love to end the facial with a hyaluronic acid serum, which binds 1000 times its weight in water to your skin, and a light to medium weight moisturizer and eye crème.
To tie in the beloved aroma, I love using Harvest Spice essential oils on warm towels during this facial, and Keyano Aromatics Pumpkin Spice Butter Cream to massage the hands and arms.
The end results looks as good as it smells. Your skin will be radiantly glowing, clean, and deliciously smooth. Keep up the good look by exfoliating once a week with a pumpkin scrub and continue your normal cleansing and moisturizing. Facials are recommended monthly and if you love your Pumpkin Spice Facial this season, you can enjoy it year round!
